We recently contacted you about a Member Engagement survey to help us learn more about what you want from New Melbourne Browncoats, but haven’t received some of your responses. We’d really appreciate your participation, as this will help us tailor our activities, communications and charity fundraising to our membership.

If you could please complete the survey today (check your email for the link), that would be very shiny indeed. If you haven’t received the survey, we may not have your correct email, so please let us know at membership@newmelbournebrowncoats.com.

Thank you for your contributions and we look forward to making 2018 a fantastic year for members.

Stay shiny,
Melissa Dwyer

Our Annual General Meeting is done and dusted! We’d like to thank everyone who attended and all those who could not attend in person but sent through proxy votes.

In addition to presenting our Financial Statement for FY2016-2017, we also held elections to build our Committee of Management for the next 12 months.

The election results are as follows:

  • President: Chris MacLennan
  • Vice President: Helen van’t Hof
  • Secretary: Melissa Dwyer
  • Treasurer: Jen Cummings
  • Ordinary Members: Sarah Brennan-Dunn

We are delighted to welcome Sarah and Helen on board, and we say a sad farewell to Michael Mihalic and Laura Shearman who have regretfully left the Committee for personal reasons (though will remain active members of our club). Please join us in thanking Michael and Laura for their years of dedicated service!

Sunday September 10 at 1.00-2.00pm
The Boatbuilders Yard, South Wharf

Mal: Ain't all buttons and charts, little albatross. Know what the first rule of flying is? Well I s'pose you do, since you already know what I'm 'bout to say.
River: I do. But I like to hear you say it.
Mal: Love. Can know all the math in the 'verse but take a boat in the air that you don't love? She'll shake you off just as sure as a turn in the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down…tell you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens…makes her a home.

It's that time of the year again, our AGM!

Take a leisurely stroll along the Promenade and join us at The Boatbuilders Yard for our Annual General Meeting. The meeting will start promptly at 1:00pm, and you're invited to have a meal or a drink with us afterwards.

The AGM will consist of presentation of previous AGM minutes (and acceptance), presentation of the financial statement for Financial Year 2016/2017 (and acceptance), and elections.

We’re organised entirely by volunteers and we’re looking for like minded supporters to join us in achieving our goals. We’re always seeking volunteers and new ideas so why not visit our website for more information and get involved! If you're interested in joining our team please nominate for a position in our Committee of Management. You must be a member to nominate and vote so join up here!

If you're a member and are not able to attend, please appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf (form and submission information is below).

We look forward to seeing you there and to having you be part of the amazing year ahead.

You may recall that we announced that last year’s Can’t Stop the Serenity Screening event would be our final one. And that is still the case, saddening though it may be. But we are still committed to supporting Equality Now through Can’t Stop The Serenity.

So, what are we up to? This year, we are hosting an eBay auction that’s filled to the brim with autographed Firefly and Serenity collectables!

Starting today (July 10), you’ll have the chance to bid on goodies signed by Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion, Sean Maher, Jewel Staite, Alan Tudyk, Morena Baccarin, Summer Glau, Adam Baldwin, Felicia Day, Amy Acker and more!

You can bid on the first few items right now on ebay and we’ll be adding more items over the next few weeks for fans of Firefly/Serenity, Dollhouse & Buffy the Vampire Slayer!

So head over to ebay and bid high and often for a great cause!
