Can’t Stop The Serenity 2013

A Charity Event for Browncoats and Joss Whedon fans

postcard-front

Each year New Melbourne Browncoats host Can’t Stop The Serenity to raise money for Equality Now. Over the years Browncoats in Melbourne have raised over $25,000 for this worthy cause, with each year getting bigger and better. Come along, bring a friend, bring someone who has never seen Firefly, and they’ll have fun, raise much needed money and become part of the Browncoat family!

We will be showing Serenity in HD, as well as the fan favourite Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.  Can’t Stop The Serenity also features RafflesAuctionsDoor PrizesCosplay, and Merchandise provided by our booth crew, NMB Outfitters.

Returning too will be the famous “Heroes of Canton Karaoke” where you, the audience, all join in to sing “The Hero of Canton” from the Firefly episode Jaynestown.

All raffle, auction and merch items are cash only on the day.

The venue is again the Village Roadshow Theatrette at the State Library of Victoria.  This 200 seat theatre was sold out last year, so you had better get in early for your tickets, just $20 available online.

Ben McKenzie beard and books (9326)This year we welcome back Ben McKenzie as MC.  We had such a great time with Ben’s hosting last year, we just had to ask him back again. A Browncoat, actor, scientician, comedian, feminist, improviser, geek, voiceover artist, gamer, presenter, nerd and ginger, he “gets” what we’re about, and is as enthusiastic as any of us.

Ben generously gives of his time, that we may chuckle.  When he’s not doing good works, you can find him hosting Dungeon Crawl, a monthly live-action D&D game played on stage by funny people.
